Sen. Cory Booker still speaking on the senate floor!

As I type this Booker is talking about the closing of social security offices. Reminder, cuts to SSA also hurt folks who rely on disability payments not just folks over 65.

A couple of quotes from Booker (may not be exact):

"This is not right or left, this is right or wrong!"

"It is time for good trouble"

He's obviously tired but still fired up!!!

I'll keep typing some quotes from Sen. Booker in this thread for a little bit:

"Social security is the greatest anti-poverty program in the history of America"

Sen. Bookers and Sen. Ben Ray Luján (New Mexico) just talked about abrubtly cutting programs that allow food banks and schools to purchase food from farmers. Due to all the planning that takes place to plant and grow foods farmers can't respond to such abrupt changes.

And this is all done just to find money for Trump's tax cuts for the rich.

Note, this is my poor attempt at a summary, it might have a errors!

I took a long break but I came back at a good time.

Sen. Booker was on a roll about fighting for what's right without falling into the trap of hating any American citizen (something like that).

I admire that! Hating doesn't do really help anyone, but fighting for justice and working on legislation does!

Then Sen Tammy Duckworth made a short joke saying she doesn't know what he's eating to help him keep going - maybe it's his vegan diet! 😁

In less than an hour Sen. Cory Booker will hit 24 hours on the senate floor! He started at 7 PM EDT last night.

Here's the livestream:

I've given up on trying to transcribe any comments (with my brain it's foolish to even try). But CSPAN always puts up a full transcript afterwards.

I don't know exactly whether this will lead to anything, but I hope it will have an impact and lead to more resistance and pushback.
