People's health changes all the time. We assume people take care of themselves, and do not drive when performance is impaired (say, by cold medicine). I myself would not drive without my ADHD meds, but where I live that's my own resppnsibility, not the state's. And so it should remain, for sure.

Not saying that autistic folk fall into either of those cases. But tracking neurotypes and making laws based on it? #danger 😨

Part of what AAA FTS study demonstrates is that isn't simply a matter of personal responsibility either.

Traffic fatalities are highest among those who have the least economic control over whether they get behind a wheel, regardless of changes in health nor availability of medication.

Given the choice between "working to provide equitable access to safe transportation" and finding "vulnerable and disadvantaged populations" to blame, which seems more historically likely?
