It's looking like the people we were going to move to #PortlandOR with are actually going to leave the country instead because they have a support system elsewhere. So R and I are looking for community, jobs, and/or roommates pretty much anywhere in the #PNW (especially in cities) because we can't afford to stay in Cali but need access to queer and leftist spaces.
Portland is necessary if we can't find roommates though, because without their rental laws I doubt we could get an apartment
None of us have been able to find jobs so far, so I def don't blame them for leaving for somewhere their kid would have a roof over his head, but now that it's just gonna be 2 disabled trans autistic burnouts trying to survive on our own, the situation is looking pretty scary... R's parents are here to catch us before we fall too far, but they don't have unlimited money so we're really hoping we can find a way to make money and/or live for cheap
For the record, "community" in this case means basically anyone in the area who wants to socialize, especially queer people, anarchists, artists, and punks. I'm gonna be trying to make friends, because in my experience being poor is a lot more fun with company!
@raphaelmorgan Oof ow, that sucks, sorry to hear :\
@raphaelmorgan I'm sadly in a similar situation (no job/living with a partner), but if you do come to the area, I recommend looking at the Gresham suburb (SE Portland area)
I've been here for almost 5 years and I am content with it.
If you have any questions about the area, feel free to ask!
