Abrasive opinion here, but the only thing that can be learned from the 35 years worth of research orbiting ME/CFS is what ME/CFS is not. The discipline is terrible at producing results and very fond of chasing its own tail. Follow its lead and some day someone will be asking what can be learned about ME/CFS from 35 years of LC research.
To each thing ask in and of itself what is its nature. Fatigue is not a metabolic accident. Fatigue has purpose.
@noyes @tomkindlon @mecfs @longcovid @olireiv not true. Loads of papers have corroborated specific things like high ROS and poor mitochondrial function. These are universal to all patients. There are others too. The rest are subgroup specific and we have no testing right now so we can't get that far with those but if you know which group you're in it does help. Can't say I'm certain of mine but ebv is a constant issue for me and I'm glad I treat it.
