K. Real talk here kids...

8mo ago covid left me with damage to the switchboard part of my brain, which tanks my ability to turn thoughts into words and to process new experiences. I struggle to communicate and even mundane things overwhelm me. I can't even word how isolating this is.

So if you would like to not get brain damage,

If you would like to not see the people you love get brain damage,

Then like maybe wear a mask yeah?

Covid ain't playin'

@vlrny I had a similar reaction to Covid and wearing a nicotine patch brought back my ability to think. The theory was that virus particles attach to the nicotonic acetylcholine receptors but nicotine is 50x stronger than the virus so a consistent supply of low dose nicotine can knock the virus off receptors. It worked for me and many others in my covid clinic. Thats not to say I don’t still have issues but I can think & communicate again.

Huh the latest story I'll never finish has a protagonist who suddenly could not make their thoughts into words anymore. Wonder if that has anything to do with the Covid I caught last September. Or was it the September before?

Sad thing is I was wearing a mask, just was in close quarters with people with no medical care, and you can't wear your mask while eating.

@vlrny
So sorry that you're dealing with this and it's the reason why I'm still quite COVID-cautious and vaccinated AF! My mental acuity is my most prized asset and I mourn the tiniest of losses there.

@vlrny

We desperately need more people to be open and honest with what they are experiencing; thank you for your real talk.

@vlrny

Thinking about the ‘don’t say Covid’ code… early on, when performing artists started cancelling shows because of ‘mystery illnesses’… that everyone knew was Covid, but wink wink couldn’t say because of insurance and legal reasons. THAT, in my mind, is the beginning of ‘don’t say Covid’, that being open about Covid wasn’t needed, a very prominent example from trendsetters that being honest and open about Covid didn’t matter as long as you have a ‘good enough reason’.

@vlrny

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before no one seemed to have Covid anymore… just a cold, or just allergies, or just a flu: everyone found a ‘good enough reason’ of their own. I wonder sometimes what could have been different if a bunch of those big names had simply said what was happening, just taken the hit on principle, normalized acknowledging Covid instead of the opposite. 🤷‍♂️
