Okay, time to #AskFedi because search engines are shit now and this is driving me up a wall
A rapper sampled the #BlackStar performance (usually referred to as "What Is Beef") from Chappelle Show back in 2003 and made part of it a chorus for a song. Anybody remember who it was? I'm reasonably certain it was a song from between 2010 and 2020. Not many more clues than that right now. Should have favorited the song when I first heard it, but I didn't. Meh
Aight, I have a partial answer but Im not satisfied with it yet.
So that same section is the beginning of this Mos Def track: https://youtu.be/q8Fl2Vlrqi8?si=3iufxckBRDMDlajo
From there i ran it through Who Sampled and got this list https://www.whosampled.com/Mos-Def/Beef/sampled/ but the entries there don't match the whisps of a song i hear in my head when i think about that chorus.
Unfortunately, i think the version I'M chasing might have reused Eminem's verse from Toy Soldiers. It might have been a mixtape cut.
If that who sampled page is helpful, great. If not, I'll keep looking and thinking
@NaClKnight Thanks.
Listening to the entries on the Who Sampled page and none of those sound quite right to me either. The biggest problem here for me is that it was a song that came up when I had autoplay on, so it may have been an artist I haven't heard much from before.
If you come up with any other possibilities, please send them my way.
